FAIRFAX, Va. – Off to its best start in conference play in program history, the George Mason women's lacrosse team looks to build on its winning streak with a rival coming to town.

The Patriots host George Washington at 6 p.m. on Thursday at George Mason Stadium for the latest chapter of the Revolutionary Rivalry. Mason holds a 12-3 edge in the series and has won the last two meetings.

Winners of their last four games, the Patriots (8-4, 4-0 Atlantic 10) will try to match last year's longest win streak of five. Mason is 4-0 in conference play for the first time in 24 years as a program – 20 in the Colonial Athletic Association and four in the Atlantic 10 – and is atop the A-10 standings with eight-time defending champ Massachusetts.

Senior Melissa Lobaccaro leads the Patriots – and ranks sixth in the league – with 31 goals. Senior Alexa McGovern (29), sophomore Chachi Kelehan (27) and senior Jordan Sdanowich (21) have also scored at least 20 goals already this season. Mason leads the A-10 with 14.25 goals a game.

Mason's defense has also been stout, allowing nine goals or less in all four conference games. Freshman goalkeeper Melissa Semkiw was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after she made 24 saves in a pair of road wins at Duquesne and VCU last weekend.

George Washington (2-9, 1-3) has lost three straight after winning its conference opener against St. Bonaventure. The Colonials are led by junior Jocelyn Donohue, who has scored a team-high 28 goals.
