CONWAY, S.C. – A furious scoring rampage in the second half boosted the George Mason women's lacrosse team to an impressive road win.
The Patriots scored nine straight goals in a 12-6 comeback victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Mason outscored the Chanticleers 8-0 in the second half, turning a two-goal halftime deficit into a convincing victory.
Trailing 6-3 late in the first half, senior
Melissa Lobaccaro scored with 54 seconds left on an assist from
Lindsey Tangeman to pull within two at halftime. Then the Patriots (3-3) picked up where they left off in the second half.
Sophomore
Chachi Kelehan scored two goals within a span of 27 seconds to tie the game. Freshman
Hailey Johnson then scored the eventual game-winner just 38 seconds later for a 7-6 lead at the 26:26 mark. Lobaccaro added another less than a minute after for a two-goal cushion. The Patriots put the game away late, scoring four times in the last 11 minutes.

Alexa McGovern each scored twice. McGovern also had two assists and Tangeman and Lobaccaro dished out an assist apiece.
Freshman
Melissa Semkiw made her first collegiate start in goal. She made seven saves and didn't allow Coastal Carolina (3-3) to score over the last 31 minutes.
The Patriots now have a week off before playing Longwood on Saturday in Farmville, Va.
