FAIRFAX, Va. – For the third time in 12 months, George Mason freshman
Grant Robinson has made a roster for the U.S. Under-19 Men's National Team.
Robinson has been named to the 22-player roster for an eight-day domestic training camp that began Friday and runs through Feb. 10 in Sunrise, Fla. During the camp, the U-19s will play friendlies against El Salvador and Miami FC.
Robinson, a midfielder from Columbia, Md., is one of seven collegiate players on the team. He was participated in the U-19 Men's National Team domestic training camp in Chula Vista, Calif., in October. Last February, he received his first call-up, competing for the U-19 Men's National Team in the Copa de Atlantico Tournament in Canary Islands, Spain. He played in three matches against France, Spain and Canary Islands.
Robinson played in 14 games and started 10, notching an assist, last fall in his first season with the Patriots. Prior to arriving at Mason, he has compiled an impressive resume, which includes playing for the DC United U18 USSF Academy and training with the DC United MLS First Team.
He also played for the Baltimore Celtic Soccer Club, helping the team to back-to-back USYSA national championships. A highly touted product out of Loyola Blakefield prep school in Towson, Md., Robinson was a member of the 2016 Boys IMG Academy 150 Player Pool and the 2016 College Soccer News Top 160 selection.
"I'm really looking forward to the camp and I think we've assembled a good, athletic squad and I will be interested to see who does well," U.S. U-19 Men's National Team head coach Brad Friedel said. "This camp is meant to bring in new and returning players and give them the opportunity to get into the system and have a chance at making a future U-20 roster. The second part of that is, the (birth year) 1997, 1998 and some 1999 age groups are going to make up the bulk of the next U-23 Olympic team. So it's really important that we continue to give the players international experience."
