WASHINGTON, D.C. – The George Mason wrestling team dropped the first three bouts of the night in a 27-9 loss at American on Friday at Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.
Mason (6-12, 2-4 EWL) fell behind after American (5-8, 0-6 EIWA) picked up a technical fall at 125 pounds. The Eagles, who won seven of the 10 bouts in the match, then added decisions at both 133 pounds and 141 pounds to take a 12-0 match score lead.
Mason Senior
Sahid Kargbo, 24
th in the NCAA Coaches Panel Rankings, gave the Patriots their first win of the night when he recorded a 3-1 decision over American sophomore Michael Sprague at 149 pounds. Kargbo improved to 25-2 on the season.

Ryan Forrest (3-4) won his second straight match, notching a 2-1 decision over Eagles sophomore Joe Salvi at 174 pounds. Mason sophomore
Matthew Voss (17-10) closed out the match on a positive note when he earned a 5-2 decision over American junior Brett Dempsey at heavyweight.
The Patriots host Sacred Heart to conclude the regular season on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Recreation and Athletic Complex.
