FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason junior midfielder Emily Littell has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Women's Soccer Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Littell, a Bioengineering major with a 3.99 GPA, is just the 11th Mason student-athlete to be named Academic All-America® since 1990.  She is the first Mason women's soccer player in program history to earn the honor.

Among the 34 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I women's soccer teams, Littell is one of 30 who carries at least a 3.90 GPA.  She is the only student-athlete from the Atlantic 10 Conference selected 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America.

A native of Leesburg, Va., Littell has started all 61 games that she has played for the Patriots.  She has recorded six goals, 16 assists and 28 points during her career.

Littell started all 20 games for Mason during the 2017 season and led the team in assists (7) and points (15).  She also tied for the team lead in goals (4).  All of those totals marked career highs for Littell, who played 1,727 minutes, second-most of any field player on the team.

Littell's seven assists tied for third-most in the Atlantic 10 Conference, while her 15 points tied for ninth in the conference.

A 2017 Provost Scholar Athlete, Littell is also a two-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team (2016, 2017).

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is the only Academic All-America designation recognized by the NCAA.  To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
