FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's basketball team has experienced a good amount of success on the road this season.
The Patriots hope to add to it when they play La Salle at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tom Gola Arena in Philadelphia. Mason (11-11, 4-5 Atlantic 10) has won six road games this season. It marks the Patriots' most wins away from home since winning six road contests during the 2005-06 season.
Their last time on the road, the Patriots picked up a 54-50 win over Richmond on Sunday, marking their first win over the Spiders since 1999. Mason suffered a 60-48 loss at home on Tuesday to Dayton, which is in sole possession of first place, despite 15 points from senior
Kara Wright, 12 from senior
Tiffany Padgett and 10 from freshman
Jacy Bolton.
La Salle (12-8, 5-3) is 6-4 at the Tom Gola Arena. The Explorers enter the matchup on a three-game winning streak, coming off a 68-64 win at home against Massachusetts on Wednesday after back-to-back road wins at Richmond and Davidson. The Explorers are led by 6-foot-1 junior Amy Griffin, the Atlantic 10's top scorer with 20 points a game.
La Salle, which handed first-place Dayton its only loss in December, is led by seventh-year head coach Jeff Williams. The Explorers lead the all-time series 4-2 but Mason has won the last two games.
