SWIMMING and DIVING at Army and Boston University

FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason women's and men's swimming and diving teams will face Army and Boston University in a tri-meet on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Crandall Pool in West Point, N.Y. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
Last season, the Mason women's team recorded a 215-81 win over Army while the men's team defeated the Black Knights 237-50 at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
Last time out, the Patriot's women's team won 10 of 16 events and posted a 176-121 victory at La Salle. The men's team fell 212-88 to the Explorers last Monday.
Junior
Dorothy Reilly won three individual events to pace the Patriots. She finished first in the 100-Yard butterfly (59.08), 200-yard butterfly (2:07.20) and 200-yard backstroke (2:07.99).
Senior
Sydney Fisher won the 100-yard freestyle (53.28) and sophomore
Marla Albanese swam to a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (25.19). Freshman
Hannah Ikenberry touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:43.47).
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Mason junior
Amy Tansill claimed the top spot (1:07.12) and senior
Sarah Brallier won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.47). The women's team won both relays in the meet.
On the men's side, senior
Paul Helfgott won the three-meter dive with a score of 312.98 and placed second in the one-meter event with a score of 276.38.
Junior
Matthew Lynch finished second in both the 100-yard butterfly (51.60) and 200-yard butterfly (1:52.93).
Junior
Steven Craig was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:45.43), freshman
Attila Kiss placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.04) and senior
Zepher Begnell finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.02).
Scouting Army:
After dropping their first three meets of the season, the Army men's and women's swimming and diving teams (5-3, 4-1 Patriot League) have won four in a row.
The Black Knights men's team has won all four meets in the New Year. Army handed Lehigh a 182-100 setback on Jan. 6, won at Bucknell 166-117 on Jan. 14 and defeated Colgate 181-108 and Lafayette 188-81 in a tri-meet on Jan. 16 at Crandall Pool in West Point, N.Y.
Last time out, the Army men's squad won seven events against the Raiders and Leopards including the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
On the women's side, the Black Knights defeated Lehigh 170-128 on Jan. 6, earned a 163-137 victory over Bucknell on Jan. 14 and downed Colgate 177-106 and Lafayette 210-64 in a tri-meet on Jan. 16.
Freshman Serica Hallstead won the three-meter dive with a score of 281.4 to qualify for the NCAA "A" Zone Championships.
Scouting Boston University:
The Terriers men's and women's swimming and diving teams (3-3, 2-0 Patriot League) were defeated by Connecticut and Yale in a tri-meet on Dec. 3 in Storrs, Conn.
The men's team lost to the Huskies 164-136 and fell to the Bulldogs 221.5-78.5. Boston University freshman Garrett Chin won both the 200-yard backstroke (1:49.71) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.14).
On the women's side, the Terriers (5-3, 2-0 Patriot League) fell to UConn 159-140 and lost to Yale 182-117. Senior Lauren Dixon won the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.53).
