FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason senior midfielder Alex Myers has been selected to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team. 

Myers, a native of Centreville, Va., led the Patriots with seven assists and finished second with five goals last season.  She appeared in all 20 games for Mason, with 19 starts, and finished sixth on the team in minutes played.  The Preseason All-Conference Team is selected by the league's head coaches.

The George Mason women's soccer team was picked to finish eighth in the 2016 Atlantic 10 Conference Preseason Poll, announced Wednesday by the league.  The poll is conducted by the league's 14 head coaches.  The Patriots return 19 letterwinners, including nine starters, from the 2015 season and will add six newcomers for the upcoming season.

Mason finished the 2015 campaign 9-9-2 overall and 4-5-1 in conference play before defeating top-seeded George Washington 1-0 in the first round of the A-10 tournament.

Dayton was selected to finish first in the conference for the eighth straight year.  The Flyers received eight first place votes.  George Washington was picked to finish second in the A-10, with VCU, La Salle and St. Joseph's rounding out the top five.  The top eight teams in the conference will play in the Atlantic 10 women's soccer championship in Kingston, Rhode Island.
