RADFORD, Va. – The George Mason women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw in exhibition play against Radford on Wednesday night at Cupp Stadium.
The match was played in three 30-minute periods. Mason finished with three shots on goal, with seniors Sarah Hardison and Alex Myers and junior Erin Mitchell each recording one apiece. Hardison, Myers and Mitchell combined to score 17 of the Patriots' 26 goals last season.
The Highlanders outshot the Patriots 9-8. Mason attempted four shots in the first period, three in the second and one in the third.
Radford had two shots on goal, with Mason senior Kirsten Glad and sophomore Morgan Symmers each making one save. Glad and Symmers each saw 30 minutes of action in goal while freshman Tara McQueen played 14:55 and classmate Kariana Blaszak played 15:05.
Both teams had a chance to find the back of the net. The Patriots hit the crossbar with a quality chance and the Highlanders hit the post on a free kick.
The Patriots begin the regular season when they host Old Dominion at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 at George Mason Stadium.
