Fairfax, Va.- Redshirt senior captain and NCAA Championships' qualifier Greg Flournoy(157) received the Most Outstanding Wrestler Award for his outstanding season Sunday, at George Mason University's 2015-2016 end of season banquet.
Flournoy went 31-12 overall and 4-1 in Eastern Wrestling League matches this season. The captain also placed third in the EWL Championships and finishes his career with 95 total wins after going 1-2 at the NCAA Championships in New York.
The Most Improved Wrestler Award went to redshirt freshman Tejon Anthony(141). In Anthony's first year of wrestling for Mason, the redshirt freshman went 20-14 overall and 3-3 in the EWL, including two technical fall victories, three major decision victories and 14 decision victories.
Junior Ryan Renkey(133) racked up two awards, the Paul Maltagliati Dedication Award and the Upperclassman Academic Award. The transfer from Army competed well this season, filling in for redshirt senior captain Vincent Rodriguez and went 7-12 overall.
Freshman Cameron Houston(197) earned the Underclassman Academic Award and was the only true freshman to start for the Patriots consistently all season.
