BROOKLYN, N.Y. – As the George Mason men's basketball team prepares for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship, the conference office released end of the year awards. Freshman Otis Livingston II was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
The major awards, the 15-member All-Conference teams, All-Defensive and All-Rookie teams were all nominated and voted on by the conference's 14 head coaches. The basketball communications directors select the All-Academic team.
Livingston finished the regular season leading Mason offensively, averaging 11.9 points per game. The Linden, N.J., native was the only Patriot to start every contest this season, leading the team in minutes per game at 34.2 mpg. Owning a team-best 112 assists, Livingston also led the Patriots from the free throw line, shooting 77.8 percent for the season.
A three-time Rookie of the Week selection throughout the season, Livingston set his career-high in scoring with 21 points against Dayton before matching the feat in the final regular season game of the season against Richmond. He recorded 23 games scoring in double-figures and had six games hitting three or more three-pointers, including hitting a personal-best five treys against Richmond. Livingston dished out a career-high seven assists against George Washington and recorded 12 games of five or more assists.
Livingston capped the regular season as the A-10's leading freshman scorer and was the only freshman in the league to start every contest, leading the freshmen in minutes per game.
Livingston was joined on the All-Rookie Team by Joseph Chartouny (Fordham), Lamarr Kimble (Saint Joseph's), Jermaine Bishop (Saint Louis) and Khwan Fore (Richmond).
George Mason earned the No. 12 seed in the championship and will open play on Wednesday taking on 13th-seeded Saint Louis at 6:30 p.m. The championship will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ASN and shown locally on CSN Mid-Atlantic Plus.
