George Mason earned the No. 12 seed in the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship and opens the tournament on Wednesday facing 13th-seeded Saint Louis at 6:30 p.m. on ASN. The tournament will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mason ended the regular season with a victory over Richmond, completing the season sweep over the Spiders. Three Patriots scored in double-figures led by freshman Otis Livingston II who tied his career-high of 21 points. Senior Shevon Thompson posted a double-double behind 16 points and 17 rebounds as the Patriots dominated on the glass, 55-28.
Saint Louis capped its regular season falling to St. Bonaventure to end on a four-game skid. Ash Yacoubou leads the Billikens, averaging 11.0 points per game, while Mike Crawford adds 10.7 ppg.
The Patriots and Billikens split the regular season series with each team taking their respective road decision. Mason earned its first A-10 victory of the season at SLU in January with a 92-79 decision before falling in overtime in Fairfax.
Mason is 0-2 in the A-10 Championship since it joined the Atlantic 10 three seasons ago. The Patriots have faced Fordham twice in the tournament.
