Kara Wright is a redshirt junior on the women's basketball team from Louisville, Ky. She is the team's second leading scorer and has scored in double figures in 11 of 12 Atlantic 10 games, averaging 12.2 points while shooting 42.7 percent from the field. GoMason.com sat down with Kara Wright for a Q&A.
Q: What sports did you play growing up other than basketball?
I played a little of everything growing up. I was awful at T-ball and volleyball. I ran track in seventh grade. Soccer was my first sport. I was an awesome goalie.
Q: What is your greatest basketball moment?
My greatest moment would definitely be winning state my senior year in high school.
Q: I know you were in elementary school, but did you watch Mason during the Final Four run in 2006? If so, what do you remember?
I don't really remember much. I just know that they were a good team and they messed up my bracket.
Q: Do you follow the NBA/WNBA? Who is your favorite player? Team?
LeBron James is my favorite player and whatever team he is on I am with. I have been following him since he was in high school. My favorite WNBA team would have to Indiana Fever because I like watching Tamika Catchings.
Q: What is your favorite off-court activity?
I like to go to the mall or shop online and play my PS4. Sleeping and eating are definitely up there, too.
Q: Did you have favorite vacation spots growing up?
Took a cruise to the Bahamas in high school. Also went to Disneyworld a few times.
Q: What music do you listen to?
Drake. Anything Drake.
Q: Did you choose your jersey No. 12 or was it assigned to you? Does No. 12 have a special meaning?
I chose 12 my sophomore year in high school because that was the year I was going to graduate in. It has been good to me ever since.
Q: If you could attend any sporting event at all, a Super Bowl, NBA Finals, Final Four, Wimbledon, etc. What would it be? Why?
I would go to NBA finals. I would do anything to see LeBron play before he retires.
Q: What can you tell the fans about you that they probably don't know?
I have 10 tattoos and counting. I write poetry occasionally.
Q: What is your favorite book?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Bait by Alex Sanchez.

1. I want to see the Northern Lights
