FAIRFAX, Va. – Coming off collecting its first Atlantic 10 Conference point, the George Mason men's soccer team hopes to notch its first conference win as it returns home.

The Patriots host La Salle at 7 p.m. on Saturday at George Mason Stadium for the Game of the Week. Mason students who attend the game, which is sponsored by VA811, will receive a Mason picture frame (while supplies last for those with valid student IDs).

Mason (2-9-2, 0-4-1 A-10) is coming off a 2-2 tie at Duquesne on Wednesday. With the draw, the Patriots picked up their first conference point of the season, but nearly earned three points for a win. Mason led 2-1 until allowing a goal in the 81st minute. Junior Henning Dirks almost scored the game-winner for the Patriots in overtime but Duquesne goalkeeper Evan Kozlowski made a leaping save.

Sophomore Tolu Ibikunle and freshman Tunde Akinlosotu accounted for the scoring for Mason. Ibikunle scored his second goal of the season after freshman Grant Robinson sent in a free kick from 45 yards out. Redshirt junior Cullen Hunter headed the ball toward the net, where Ibikunle tapped it in.

After Duquesne tied it up early in the second half, the Patriots went back in front. Freshman Ryan Mingachos made a brilliant run more than 60 yards before dishing the pass off in the box for his first career assist as Akinlosotu buried his team-high third goal of the season. Defensively, senior Steffen Kraus made seven saves.

La Salle (7-7, 2-3) picked up a 1-0 victory over Dayton on Wednesday. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the Explorers in which they were shut out by both VCU and Fordham. Colman Kennedy leads La Salle with four goals.

Sixtus Akinlonsotu, Tunde's brother, scored the lone goal for La Salle against Dayton. Sixtus, Tunde and their brother Bonaventure, who is a redshirt sophomore at St. Bonaventure, all scored goals for their teams on Wednesday. Sixtus and Tunde will square off on Saturday. St. Bonaventure, however, is not on Mason's schedule this year.

La Salle and Mason are even at 2-2-2 in the all-time series. The teams last met on Nov. 9, 2014 in Philadelphia with the game ending in a 1-1 draw after double overtime.
