Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The George Mason women's soccer team had its season-high five-game winning streak come to end, falling 4-0 to Saint Louis on Sunday at Hermann Stadium.
Mason (9-4-0, 3-1-0 A-10) entered the game tied for the top spot in the Atlantic 10 and ranked No. 3 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region poll, while the Billikens were ranked No. 4 in the Mid-Atlantic.
Saint Louis (10-2-1, 3-0-1 A-10) took the lead when senior Tori Marshall scored her first goal of the season on a header off a free kick in the 17th minute. Mason allowed the first goal in both games on its road trip.
The Billikens built a 2-0 advantage in the 38th minute when freshmen Alyssa Seitzer scored her fifth goal of the season, finding the back of the net from right in front of Mason senior goalkeeper Kirsten Glad.
Saint Louis senior forward Kirsten Clemens scored a pair of goals late in the second half, in the 73rd and 83rd minute, to double the Billikens lead to 4-0. The Patriots had allowed five goals total during their five-game winning streak.
Saint Louis scored four goals against an Atlantic 10 opponent for the first time since 2009. The win was the Billikens' first over the Patriots in four tries.
The Billikens outshot the Patriots 11-2 in the second half and 16-8 for the game, including a 7-4 shots on goal advantage. Saint Louis won its third straight game and remained perfect at home with a 6-0-0 record, outscoring opponents by a combined score of 15-3 on its home turf.
Senior Alex Myers, junior Erin Mitchell and sophomores Nia Elbeck and Rebecca Callison each recorded one of the four Mason shots on net. In goal, Glad played 78:28 and made two saves, while sophomore Morgan Symmers played 11:32 and made one save.
The Patriots host Duquesne Thursday, Oct. 13 with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
