BALTIMORE, Md. – The George Mason men's soccer team fell behind 2-0 at UMBC and could not overcome the deficit, dropping its final non-conference match of the season Saturday night. UMBC placed 10 shots on goal as Mason goalkeeper Steffen Kraus made eight saves in the contest.
MATCH NOTES
-UMBC attacked early, forcing Kraus into his first save of the night with just over a minute expired.
-The Retrievers opened scoring with a tally from Patrick Jean-Gilles in the 10th minute, scoring from 13-yards.
-Mason looked for the equalizer from Eckenrode in the 18th minute, but UMBC goalkeeper Billy Heavner was in position to make the save.
-After Kraus came up with a pair of saves to open the second half, UMBC cushioned its lead with a goal at 51:00 from Kennedy O'Shea scoring off a corner kick.
-Mason saw opportunities in the final stanza, but could not convert to cut its deficit.
