The George Mason women's basketball team will be featured in a nationally televised game during the 2015-16 season as the Atlantic 10 Conference released matchups along with its television package.
This season marks both head coach Nyla Milleson's and the programs third season in the Atlantic 10. The Patriots have made strides in the two seasons in the Atlantic 10, after winning only one conference game in the inaugural season to a 5-11 record in year two.
“Our non-conference schedule will challenge us and prepare us for the always tough Atlantic 10 Conference play,” said Milleson. “I'm excited about the opportunity to play a majority of the conference games on the weekend giving our fans a great opportunity to come see us play at home. Our team has really grown and matured over the past six months and are ready for the challenge of the upcoming season.”
The Patriots open their 16-game conference schedule on Saturday, January 2 when they travel to Saint Louis. Mason split with the Billikens last season, each winning their home contest.
George Mason's home conference schedule features eight games, five that land on the weekend, hosting La Salle (Jan. 10), Massachusetts (Jan. 30), Saint Joseph's (Feb. 7), Richmond (Feb. 20) and George Washington (Feb. 27) on either a Saturday or Sunday. The game against Saint Joseph's will be broadcast on the American Sports Network (ASN) at 2 p.m.
The first conference game at the newly-renamed EagleBank Arena is against the La Salle Explorers on Thursday, Jan. 7. Longtime rival VCU will travel north for a weeknight tilt on Wednesday, January 20th. The following week Saint Louis will travel in for a Thursday game against the Patriots on January 28.
The Patriots end the regular season at home against A-10 Champion George Washington on Saturday, Feb. 27 before heading to Richmond for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, March 2-6.
For the second consecutive year, the A-10 quarterfinals will be aired live on ASN. Semifinal Saturday on CBS Sports Network tips off at 11 a.m., followed by the second semifinal game at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's championship final on March 6 will be aired live on ESPNU at noon.
