WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – On a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Spry Stadium, the George Mason women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons, despite attempting 21 shots, won the battle converting a penalty kick in the 67th minute.

MATCH NOTES
-A total of 10 shots were recorded in the first half with Sarah Hardison recording Mason's lone attempt in the period in the 30th minute.
-Wake Forest attacked early, rattling off a pair of shots in the first five minutes, but both attempts went high.
-One shot on goal was recorded in the first half, coming from WF's Sarah Medina in the 42nd minute as Kirsten Glad picked up her first save of the afternoon.
-Mason wasted no time in the second half looking to break open the scoring as Daniela Neves drove Lindsay Preston into WF's first save with just 33 seconds expired in the period.
-Holding the Demon Deacons steady in the early going of the period, Mason rattled off its second shot on goal in the 52nd minute from Emma Starr, but Preston came up with the stop.
-Mason recorded its third shot on goal in 15 minutes, this time coming from Erin Mitchell at the 59:35 mark. Preston kept the slate clean with her third save.
-Wake Forest saw a solid opportunity in the 62nd minute as Bayley Feist looked for the go-ahead shot that went off the post. Sarah Teegarden's attempt to follow was blocked as Sarah Medina came up with a shot on goal all within a one minute period.
-Following a foul on George Mason, the Deacs scored the game-winner when Sarah Teegarden converted a penalty kick at the 66:02 mark.
-Mason would take one more shot in the contest, but could not convert.

STAT BREAKDOWN
-Wake Forest attempted 21 shots in the contest, turning six into shots on goal.
-Mason recorded just five shots in the game, putting three on target.
-Corner kicks were nearly even as WF took seven to Mason's six.
-Kirsten Glad played the full 90 minutes and recorded five saves.
