After a 1-1 start to the season, the George Mason men's soccer team concludes a three-game homestand against the Albany Great Danes on Saturday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. The match will be the first between the two teams.
The Patriots hosted the Kuykentsrong D.C. College Cup last weekend, defeating Howard 5-1 in the season-opener before falling to American in the Sunday cup finale. Edgar Zepeda scored two goals against Howard and currently leads the team in that category while freshman Stephen Durbin tallied a goal and two assists in the weekend's matches on his way to winning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors for the first time.
Albany opened its season with two home contests as well - first they fell 3-0 to Villanova before blanking Atlantic 10 conference member Rhode Island 1-0 on Sunday. Leo Melgar scored the lone goal for the Great Danes this season while Eric Orologio recorded his first shutout in goal with four saves in the win over the Rams.
