WASHINGTON, D.C.
– Behind a hat trick from junior Sarah Hardison, the George Mason women's soccer team secured its first win of the 2015 season at American on Sunday. Hardison put the Patriots up 2-0 at halftime and cushioned the lead with her third goal of the game coming in the second half.

MATCH NOTES
-Mason took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute as Sarah Hardison finished an Emma Starr assist with a header off Starr's cross from the right wing.
-Hardison doubled Mason's lead in the 31st minute. Newcomer Alex Myers forced American goalkeeper Charlene Belanger into a pair of saves and on the second attempt, Hardison converted the rebound for her second goal.
-American attacked in the second half, coming up with five shots on goal, but Mason goalkeeper Kirsten Glad kept the slate clean, totaling eight saves in the contest.
-Hardison completed her hat trick with just over two minutes left in the contest, finding the back of the net in the 88th minute from the top of the box to the right post. Emily Littell was credited with an assist.
-Hardison's hat trick, her first as a Patriot, marks the first from a Patriot since Omolyn Davis scored three goals at William & Mary on October 23, 2009.
-Head coach Todd Bramble secured his first win as a Patriot on Sunday.

POST-GAME QUOTES
-“We're really happy with the way we played today, especially in the first half. I thought the first half was when the game was decided. We had total control of the ball on both sides and didn't give them anything. In the second half, we did just enough and secured the result. I understand it's still early and we still have things to work on. We had a lot of fans come out to American today and we are grateful for their support.” – Head Coach Todd Bramble
-“This is the game we've been waiting for Sarah [Hardison] to have. She was frustrated a little in preseason and we're really happy to see this breakout performance from her. Hopefully she builds confidence from this and this acts a springboard for her to continue on.” – Head Coach Todd Bramble

STAT BREAKDOWN
-Mason controlled possession, leading American in shots, 17-10 and shots on goal, 9-8.
-Alex Myers took a team-best seven shots in the match and put three on frame.
-Hardison converted her three shot attempts for the game.
-Kirsten Glad recorded her first win as a Patriot and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard with eight saves. American posted six saves.
-The teams stood even in corner kicks, each attempting a pair.
