BLACKSBURG — Relief pitcher Evan Porcella and outfielder Luke Willis were each named to the 2015 Second Team All-State baseball team on Friday, as voted on by the state's sports information directors.

Virginia head coach Brian O'Connor, who guided his Cavaliers to the 2015 national championship, highlighted the 2015 University Division All-State Baseball team chosen by the Virginia College Sports Information Directors (VaSID) and announced today. O'Connor picked up his ninth Coach of the Year honor, while two of his players also earned major awards – Josh Sborz was voted Pitcher of the Year and Pavin Smith nabbed Rookie of the Year. Richmond's Michael Mormon grabbed the state's Player of the Year.

Porcella completed his junior season making the most appearances on the team, pitching in 23 games. His 1.93 was the lowest on the team over 37 and one-third innings pitched. The southpaw allowed only eight runs this season while striking out 28 batters and walking 11. Porcella's .197 opponent batting average was also the lowest mark on the team.

Willis enjoyed a second successful season with the Patriots, leading the team with a .355 average, 50 runs scored, 76 hits and 15 doubles along with team-high's in slugging percentage, on base percentage and a career-high 29 steals. His 26-game hit streak this season ended one short of tying the longest streak in Mason baseball history. Other accolades Willis received this season include Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and Second Team ABCA/Rawlings East All-Region. The Annandale, Va. native was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 30th round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
