FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason men's soccer team plays host to the Atlantic 10 Championships and this year's Kuykenstrong D.C. College Cup along with eight additional home games as part of the 2015 schedule announced by head coach Greg Andrulis and his staff.
The season starts with exhibition matches at Villanova and at home vs. Wright State before the final exhibition match on Sunday, August 23rd in Williamsburg, Va. against William & Mary at 7:00 p.m.
Mason opens the regular season at George Mason Stadium on Friday, August 28 and continues play on Sunday, August 30 as part of the annual Kuykenstrong D.C. College Cup, which the Patriots have won the past five seasons. Mason plays Howard on Friday and American on Sunday, both games at 7:30 p.m.
The Patriots host their third consecutive home game as they open the month of September against Albany on the 5th. A separate three-game home stand begins with Fairleigh Dickinson on September 11 and Hofstra on the 13th for two Capitol Cup contests as well as a game vs. High Point on September 19. Non-conference road contests against Virginia, Longwood and UMBC make up the rest of the month. Virginia comes into the season as the defending national champion after a penalty kick victory over UCLA in the 2014 College Cup.
Atlantic 10 Conference play takes up the entire month of October, first against VCU at home on Saturday the 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Mason alternates road and home matches afterwards against George Washington, Dayton, Saint Joseph's and Duquesne before ending the month on the road against Fordham and Davidson. A home contest against Rhode Island on November 7 concludes the regular season schedule.
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Championships take place at George Mason Stadium from Thursday, November 12 through Sunday, November 15. The Patriots advanced to the second round of the tournament in 2014 and finished the season 11-4-5 .
