George Mason will play the Davidson Wildcats for the first time in program history this weekend. The Wildcats joined the Atlantic 10 Conference at the beginning of the school year. Mason currently sits in ninth place in the Atlantic 10 (7-8), one game behind La Salle and VCU (8-7) which are tied for the seventh and final spot. Davidson is currently in fourth with an 11-7 conference record.
The Patriots wrapped up non-conference play on Tuesday with a 6-4 loss to UMBC. They have however won three consecutive weekend series, including weekend wins over A-10 opponents VCU and George Washington. Davidson comes in with wins in seven of their last eight games which include weekend sweeps of Dayton and St. Bonaventure.
Luke Willis continues to lead the conference in hits with 66 and runs scored with 45. His double against UMBC extends his hit streak to 20 games, a season-long for the Patriots. Brandon Gum remains at 19 games with a hit after sitting out Tuesday.
Davidson's Lee Miller is second in the conference with a batting average of .382 and has a team-high six homeruns and 43 RBI, also second in the conference. As a team the Wildcats rank second in the Atlantic 10 with on base percentage of .379.
