The Patriots play their final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday when UMBC visits at 3:00 p.m. Mason is 11-14-1 against non-conference opponents this season.
The Green and Gold won its third consecutive weekend series this past weekend, taking the final two games from George Washington 5-0 and 4-3. John Williams pitched a complete game shutout on Saturday and Kent Blackstone hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th on Sunday. Luke Willis and Brandon Gum have had at least one base hit in their last 19 games, the sixth longest hitting streaks in program history. Willis leads the Atlantic 10 with 65 hits and Mason with a .371 batting average. Gum is hitting .359.
The Retrievers are batting .272 as a team and come in with a staff ERA of 3.66. They are 6-10 on the road compared to 15-1 at home this season. Zack Bright charges UMBC regular starters with a .331average and Jake Barnes has a team-high four homeruns.
