Brian Negron has been selected to the Off The Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team.
Negron was one of eight total players selected by a nationwide voting committee. The San Juan, Puerto Rico native was the only setter selected and led all freshmen in the nation with 9.59 assists per set.
Negron has provided 815 of the Patriots 924 assists on the season and has helped guide Mason to a spot in the EIVA Tournament. The setter has also added 59 kills on just 19 attacking errors. Negron has played a big part for the Patriots defense and so far has 55 blocks, which is the second most for Mason.
A player earning a spot on the Freshmen All-American Team had to be among the top 10 vote-getters and appear on at least 40 percent of all the fully submitted ballots.The more than 30-member voting committee was comprised of men's volleyball head coaches and volleyball reporters from around the nation.
