NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Junior Shevon Thompson was recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference office on Tuesday, being tabbed to the All-Conference Third Team. The annual postseason awards were voted on by the league's 14 head coaches. The All-Academic Team was selected by a vote of the A-10's men's basketball media relations directors.

Thompson started all 30 games of the regular season and finished as the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 12.8 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. The Clarendon, Jamaica native has recorded 346 rebounds this season, needing just eight to set the all-time season record in rebounds. Will Thomas holds the record with 353 rebounds in 2007-08.

Thompson opened the Puerto Rico Tip-Off with his first double-digit game of the season with 14 points against West Virginia. He followed that performance setting the Puerto Rico Tip-Off single game record with 19 rebounds against New Mexico, setting his career-high in rebounds. When Mason welcomed Catawba in December, Thompson scored a career-high 29 points on a career-best 13 field goals. He has amassed 16 double-doubles throughout the season.

As of the latest national rankings, Thompson ranks fifth in the nation in rebounding and third in offensive rebounds per game with 4.8 per game. Thompson has led the A-10 all season in rebounding.

Joining Thompson on the All-Conference Third Team are Kevin Larsen of George Washington, Cady Lalanne of UMass and St. Bonaventure's Youssou Ndoye and Marcus Posley.
