FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's volleyball team is set to hit the road again to take on #10 IPFW on Friday, February 6 and #13 Ball State on Saturday, February 7. Most recently, the Patriots split the weekend with a win against UCWV and a four-set loss to Ohio State.

IPFW has started the year with some big wins against ranked teams already. Despite falling to #4 UC Santa Barbara and #5 UCLA, they have beaten #15 CSUN and EIVA-rival, Penn State. The Mastodons welcome the Patriots on Friday riding a five-game win streak, most recently sweeping Quincy. IPFW will take on Ball State the day before welcoming the Patriots.
The Patriots have lost the most recent matchup with IPFW, falling in four sets to the Mastodons last season. IPFW holds a 23-22 advantage all time against Mason. Andrew Sellan leads the IPFW offense with 120 kills on the season. Omar Rivera has provided 369 assists with an average of 10.85 assists per set. Meanwhile, reigning MIVA Defensive Player of the Week, Luis Bertran, leads the Mastodon defense with 83 digs.

Ball State comes into this match on a three-match win streak, sweeping Sacred Heart, Quincy, and Lindenwood. Right before the win streak, the Cardinals were swept by EIVA-opponent Harvard for their only loss of the season.
Ball State won the most recent matchup with the Patriots last season. The Patriots trail 27-34 in the all-time series against the Cardinals. Marcin Niemczewski leads the Cardinals with 76 kills on the season. Hiago Garchet has provided 256 assists to pace the Ball State offense as well. Meanwhile, David Vander Meer leads the Cardinals defense with 68 digs so far this season.
