Dayton Captures Win Over Men?s Basketball

DAYTON, OHIO
– The Dayton Flyers remained undefeated at home for the 2014-15 season after defeating the George Mason men's basketball team 76-63 Wednesday evening in UD Arena.

Three Patriots reached double-figures on the evening led by Isaiah Jackson with 13 points. Patrick Holloway and Jalen Jenkins each added 10 points as Mason shot 53.1 percent (26-49) from the field. Dayton registered a 55.6 percent shooting effort (25-45) and was paced by Jordan Sibert with 24 points on the evening. Sibert was joined in double-figures by Kendall Pollard with 16 points and Kyle Davis with 13.

Mason committed 16 turnovers in the contest, including 12 in the first half, allowing Dayton nine points off the miscues in the opening stanza to lead 35-31 at the break. Jackson led Mason to a 28-26 rebounding edge, pulling down seven rebounds. Mason outscored Dayton 36-24 in the paint and 27-8 off the bench.

Dayton used nine made three-pointers, fueled by five from Sibert, and finished 17-of-26 from the charity stripe to collect the win. The Flyers led by as many as 19 points in the second half after breaking away by opening the period with a 13-4 run to gain a double-digit lead. Jenkins cut it to nine points shortly after, but the Flyers quickly regained and maintained the double-digit advantage the remainder of the contest.

Mason closes out this two-game road swing visiting Saint Louis for a Saturday night contest. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
