It's Homecoming 2015 for George Mason on Saturday as both the men's and women's basketball teams welcome in-state foes. The women's basketball team kicks off the day with VCU at noon while the men's team entertains Richmond at 4 p.m. on MASN. The Rams took the first meeting between the programs 70-66 at VCU earlier this season, despite a late surge from the Patriots including 21 second half points from redshirt junior Taylor Brown.
Head coach Nyla Milleson and her squad are looking to bounce back from a hard-fought 85-79 overtime loss at UMass Wednesday. Brown once again led the Patriots tying her career-high with five threes, including a game-tying trey with 26 seconds remaining in regulation on her way to 30 points. The Bowie, Md. native narrowly missed a double-double with nine assists. Classmate Kristi Mokube had 10 first half points on her way to her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
The Rams come to Fairfax looking to snap a four game losing streak including back-to-back road losses, after falling 83-47 at Duquesne February 7. VCU's last win came in the 70-66 decision over Mason. Isis Thorpe leads the Rams with 11.5 points per game while Adaeze Alaeze is right behind her with 10.6 points per game and leads the team on the boards with 6.7 rebounds per game.
