FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams have each earned 2014 Division 1 All-Academic Honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today.
The Patriots are among 226 women's programs and 179 men's programs that earned All-Academic Team honors this season. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.00 or greater to qualify for the award.
The George Mason men compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.29 and the women earned a similar cumulative GPA of 3.28. Stanford and Michigan State were announced as the individual Scholar Teams of the Year.
Michael Conway was among the individual honorees after an impressive season. After earning a BS in criminology, Conway is pursuing a MA in biodefense at Mason. There were a total of 91 men in Division I who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and have finished in the top 15 finishers (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet.
