The George Mason men's basketball team returns to action after the Holiday break, opening Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday at in-state rival VCU. Tip time in the Siegel Center is slated for 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
Mason is coming off a two-game homestand where the Patriots defeated Longwood and Wagner. Freshman DeAndre Abram set two career-highs in both games, earning A-10 Rookie of the Week honors for two consecutive weeks. Otis Livingston II and Marquise Moore both average double-figures on the season, while Shevon Thompson leads the team on the boards with 10.3 rpg on average.
VCU enters conference play on a three-game win streak having most recently defeated North Florida. The Rams are 7-1 at home this season with the only loss coming against then-#23 Cincinnati to open this five-game homestand. Melvin Johnson leads VCU offensively, averaging 18.3 ppg.
