NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshman DeAndre Abram picked up his first Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honor on Monday after a career-best performance on Saturday, earning A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week. Abram shared the honor with Joseph Chartouny of Fordham. Trey Davis of UMass received Player of the Week recognition.

Earning his first collegiate career start against Longwood, Abram poured in a career-high 24 points in his first-ever double-digit performance. The freshman from Carrollton, Texas surpassed his previous scoring high of eight points and led the Patriots against the Lancers, going 8-for-14 from the floor and hitting three treys for a new personal-best. The freshman shot 57.1 percent from the floor and 62.5 percent from the charity stripe going 5-for-8.

In a career-best 32 minutes played, Abram also matched his career-high on the glass, pulling down seven rebounds.
