FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason women's volleyball senior outside hitter Morghan Martin was recognized by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) on Friday, earning All-State Second Team accolades.

The senior led Mason on the season with a team-best 348 kills, appearing in all 29 matches and earning the start in 28. The Rockledge, Fla. native, finished this season ranked seventh in the Atlantic 10 in kills, averaging 3.21 per set. Martin also led the Patriots with 31 aces on the season to rank ninth in the A-10. Martin collected 162 digs (1.50 per set) and 26 total blocks (0.24 per set) on the season.

Martin opened the season posting a season-best four aces against Georgetown and in just the second match of the season, she helped lead the Patriots to a 3-1 victory over Howard posting 19 kills. The senior posted a streak of five-straight matches recording double-figure kills that stretched from the end of non-conference play to opening league play.

In Mason's match at Duquesne, Martin picked up her first double-double of the season with 12 digs and 18 kills. The double-double marked the first of four for Martin in the final 10 matches as the senior closed the season with two double-doubles and a pair of 20+ kill performances.

Martin helped lead Mason to a 3-2 win over La Salle with 22 kills and 13 digs against the Explorers and followed that performance with a season-best 24 kills and 17 digs on Senior Night against Duquesne.

Martin was joined on the VaSID All-State Second Team with Carolina Douglas of Liberty, Kalah Jones of VCU, William & Mary's Dessi Koleva, Liberty's Margaret Latchford, Ashley Battle of Virginia Tech and James Madison's Meghan Niski and Sarah Patterson.
