NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshman guard Jaire Grayer picked up his first Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honor on Monday as the league office tabbed Grayer as the Rookie of the Week for all games November 16-22. Grayer led Mason in its four games, posting double-figure scoring numbers in all four contests.

The Flint, Mich. native, opened the week with 10 points at Mercer, setting a then-personal-best mark. Grayer quickly set a new career-high in scoring, chipping in 15 points in the first game of the 2015 Gildan Charleston Classic against Ole Miss. He was one of four Patriots to score in double-figures against the Rebels, as Mason topped the SEC foe 68-62 to reach Oklahoma State in the semifinals. Against OSU, Grayer erupted with 23 points for a new personal-mark. The freshman was 9-of-12 from the floor, hitting 5-of-7 three-point attempts as Mason defeated the Cowboys in overtime, 71-68 to advance to the championship game.

Grayer kept his scoring streak going on Sunday, scoring 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor against No. 6 Virginia as Mason fell in the championship contest. Through the four games, Grayer averaged 16.0 points per game, shooting 57.4 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three-point range. He recorded four assists and a block and steal.

The Patriots return to action closing out this five-game road swing at Manhattan on Wednesday. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
