The George Mason swim team played host to La Salle this afternoon in a conference dual meet held at the Mason Aquatics and Fitness Center. The Patriots swept the Explorers, the women with a commanding 149-94 win and the men 134-107.
Mason women earned a first place finish in 10 of their 13 events, including two sweeps. The Patriots owned the podium in the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard breast. Dorothy Reilly won the butterfly, followed by Gentry Anderson and Christina McLemore. Sarah Brailler, Allison Barachona and Shannon Slate finished first through third in the breast stroke.
Junior Sydney Fisher won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events and was a member of the winning 400-yard medley relay team. Steff Maurer was atop the podium in three events; 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard back and the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sarah Braillier earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM and was part of the 200-yard breast relay team.
The men edged out the Explorers in winning seven of the 13 events. Steven Craig won the distance races, 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events and the 200-yard IM. Alec Morin won the sprints, the 50 and 100-yard freestyle and was a part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. Jesse Burnley won the 200-yard free for the Patriots.
Mason is back in the water next weekend as host of the Patriot Invitational.
