DAYTON, OHIO – Two goals from Alex Myers could not overcome three goals from Dayton in the first half as George Mason women's soccer dropped a 4-2 decision on the road Sunday. The Flyers added a goal in the second half to complete their scoring while Myers split her goals in each period.
MATCH NOTES
-Dayton got on board with less than 18 minutes expired as Alexis Kiehl completed a Nicole Waters cross near the middle of the box for an early 1-0 lead.
-Kiehl looked for her second goal just over a minute later, but Kirsten Glad was in position to make the save.
-Ashley Campbell gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead with a tally in the 24th minute. Nicole Waters assisted on her second goal of the afternoon, lobbing a pass to the top of the 18, where Campbell blasted a shot from inside.
-Myers cut the deficit in half with her first conversion of the game in the 33rd minute. Emily Littell passed it to Myers on the left side of the box who finished the pass from six-yards out.
-Dayton took a 3-1 lead into the halftime break finding the back of the net at the 41:13 mark. Beth Kamphaus rebounded a shot off the crossbar seconds earlier, scoring off the shot.
-Mason scored with just 37 seconds ticked away to open the second half, as Alex Myers blasted a shot from 50-yards out over the keeper for a 3-2 score.
-The Patriots continued to attack, looking for the equalizer and forcing Kaelyn Johns into two saves, but Dayton broke through again in the 63rd minute off a header from Ashley Campbell.
-Daniela Neves hit the post with a shot in the 71st minute as the A-10 opponents closed the game, 4-2.
