Mason's Taylor Brown has been named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference First Team as the conference released its preseason polls and awards on Wednesday in conjunction with its annual media day in Richmond. George Mason was predicted to finish 11th out of 14 teams in their third season in the A-10.

In just two seasons, Brown has made a substantial impact on the Patriots, leading the team in scoring both seasons. As a junior, Brown set the all-time single season scoring record with 643 points, earning her 2014-15 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and VaSID All-State First Team honors. She also set the individual records for single-season field goal attempts with 539 and free throws made with 169. Last season, Brown surpassed the 1,000-career point mark, doing so in just 50 games, becoming the fastest player in Mason women's basketball history to reach the feat.  She finished the 2014-15 season first in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring and 13th in the nation.

The 5-foot-7 guard enters her senior season currently ranked 13th on Mason's all-time scoring list with 1,229 points, 518 points away from tying the all-time record set in 1996. In addition to leading the team in scoring, Brown has also led the team in assists each season, accumulating 225 assists in two years to rank 13th all-time in career assists. A strong shooter from beyond the three-point line, Brown currently sits 13th on the all-time three-point field-goal leaders chart in program history.

This season marks both head coach Nyla Milleson's and George Mason's third season in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Patriots have made strides in the two seasons in the A-10, after winning only one conference game (8-23, 1-15) in the inaugural season to a 5-11 record in year two. Mason finished 8-6 out of conference play, the best non-conference record for the Green and Gold since the 2000-01 season when the Patriots were 9-2 before conference play.

The Patriots return seven letter-winners from the 2014-15 campaign that finished 13-17 overall. Milleson's squad will gain experienced reinforcement from four transfers who become eligible following a redshirt season as well as two newcomers to the program.
