PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Duquesne converted in the 40th minute for the lone goal of the evening as the Dukes snapped George Mason's two-game win streak with a 1-0 victory Thursday night. The Patriots saw opportunities in the second half to tie the score, but could not convert in the Atlantic 10 Conference matchup.

-On a shuffle in front of the goal in the 38th minute, Duquesne's Murphy challenged Erin Mitchell on the loose ball, coming up with possession and keeping Mitchell scoreless.
-The Dukes broke through in the 40th minute on a tally from Malea Fabean. Duquesne intercepted a Mason goal kick as Danya Fenech crossed it to Fabean who was positioned at the doorstep and tapped it in from three-yards out for the 1-0 advantage.
-Duquesne had an opportunity to take a 2-0 lead receiving a penalty kick at the 41:00 mark. Maddie Layman's attempt, however, struck the left post and went wide.
-Mason opened the second half with a corner kick from Kaila Williams. Alex Myers tried to finish the corner, but her attempt was just off the mark, missing wide left.
-Erin Mitchell sought the equalizer late in the second half on a header in the 83rd minute. Mitchell's shot hit the crossbar.

POST-GAME QUOTES
-“Overall, Duquesne was a better team tonight and they deserved to win. It felt like we were chasing the game from the opening whistle. We played better in the second half, defended better and we had a few good opportunities, but it wasn't meant to be. Now we need to refocus, get back home and regroup for Sunday.” Head Coach Todd Bramble

NEXT ON THE PITCH
-Mason wraps up this two-game road trip visiting Davidson on Sunday. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m.
