Taylor Brown led all scorers with 20 points on the day as three Patriots registered double figures Saturday afternoon as George Mason women's basketball fell 87-52 to No. 24 George Washington at home.
Senior Sandra Ngoie added 12 on the day, going 4-5 from beyond the arc while redshirt junior Jasmine Jackson contributed 11. The Patriots outrebounded GW 44-43, led by Rachel McNair and Kristi Mokube who had a game-high nine each. However, they could not overcome the Colonials who shot 46.5 percent from the field (33-71), registering 27 points off 29 Mason turnovers.
“First and foremost, we just have to find a way to take care of the ball,” head coach Nyla Milleson said. “At halftime we had 20 turnovers and they had 14 steals, you don't even give yourself the chance to play defense. That's really my main concern right now; we're not taking care of the basketball.”
The Patriots return to action Thursday when they host Dayton at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the three-game home stand February 8 against Davidson in Mason's annual Play 4Kay “Pink” game.
