The George Mason men's volleyball team visited the first graders at Deer Park Elementary School right after they wrapped up their California trip last week. Each player was paired up with one or two kids and they all read stories to each other.
“The guys had a great time with the kids at Deer Park Elementary School. It's easy to forget that the guys were once that age, and maybe someone spent a little time and inspired them to be successful student-athletes,” said Head Coach Fred Chao. “It's also a great way to keep things in perspective. Being a student-athlete can be stressful, but spending some quality time with first-graders can remind us that our challenges can be fun and interesting, depending on our attitudes."
