Box Score NORTHRIDGE, California – The George Mason men's volleyball team falls to #15 CS Northridge. The Matadors won all three sets in the Patriots third match of the season. The Green and Gold move to 0-3 on the season, while the Matadors improve to 2-2.
Paco Velez and Jack Wilson led the Patriot offense with six and five kills, respectively. Freshman Brian Negron provided a team-high 19 assists in the match. Sophomore Radoslav Popov led the Mason defense with five digs.
The Matadors won with set scores of 25-18, 25-14, and 25-19. After dropping the first two sets, the Patriots came out on fire in the third set, leading by as much as four points. However, the Matadors fought back and were able to come back and win the final set of the match.
Sam Holt led the way on offense for CSUN, finishing with a match-high 14 kills. Travis Magorien provided 33 assists in the match as well. Greg Faulkner and Bradley Sakaida led the defense with five blocks each to help the Matadors.
The Patriots wrap up the California road trip with a match against #6 UC Irvine on Wednesday, January 14 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
