George Mason women's volleyball earned its first win of the season and Tiffany Clarke was named to the All-Tournament team Saturday as the Patriots went 1-1 on day two of the Patriot Invitational.

After going 0-2 on Friday, Mason bounced back Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over  William & Mary. Mason took the court and quickly set a much different tone, taking the first set 25-20, behind five kills and four blocks from Lola Owokoniran . The Tribe would come back to take set two, but the Patriots responded taking a hard-fought third set, 25-23, before securing the win with a 25-14 win in the fourth and final set.

Three players registered double-doubles in the win, led by sophomore Jessie Greensalde  with 10 kills and 14 digs. Junior Morghan Martin contributed 10 kills alongside 11 digs and freshman Kelly Shaller added 24 assists and 11 digs.

The night cap featured George Mason and Maryland (6-0) who had already claimed wins over Lehigh and ETSU on the weekend. The Patriots stumbled in the first set, quickly falling 25-13 to the Terps before storming back to tie the match with a 25-20 win in set two.

Mason stormed to a 6-0 lead behind the serving of Mara Barkley before Maryland would break serve, however the Patriots managed to hold the lead from wire-to-wire and take the set. The Terps responded in set number three, taking the tug-of-war set 25-18. The fourth set was much of the same, with the teams trading points until the Patriots finally began to pull away with Mason securing the set 25-20 off a kill from Jessie Greenslade to force a fifth set.

The score in the fifth set would change hands just once, but was tied at four separate occasions. Maryland led by as much as 13-8, but the Patriots would surge back behind the serves of freshman Kelly Schaller to tie it at 13 all. However, the Terps would secure the set and match with a kill from Chavi St. Hill followed by a Mason error.

The Patriots are on the road for the next two weekends before returning to the RAC for conference play, Friday, Sept. 26 against Fordham.

Clark earned a spot on the All-Tournament team with 32 kills over four matches, three aces and 13 blocks, including 13 kills in the match against Maryland.
