Box Score George Mason women's volleyball (5-9, 1-0 A-10) entered conference play in style with a decisive 3-0 (25-14; 25-16; 25-19)sweep of Fordham (0-14, 0-1 A-10) Friday night at the RAC.
“This was a nice start to the conference season,” head coach Pat Kendrick said. “I thought we had a great team effort, the intensity was good and we kept it consistent. I think that's a big reason why we won.”
Mason, as a team maintained an attacking-percentage of .216 while holding Fordham to negative .029. Lola Owokoniran led the Patriots with eight kills and just two errors on 12 attempts for a match-high attacking-percentage of .500 and bolstered the defense with five blocks, four assisted and one solo, for a total of 11 points on the match.
The Patriots have a quick turnaround this weekend as they will host Rhode Island Saturday at 7 p.m. at the RAC.
“We're going to focus on Rhode Island now,” Kendrick said. “We're going to build on what we started tonight and work to get one more win.”
