“We are still working on our ability to play intense, consistently,” head coach Pat Kendrick said. “These pre-conference matches have been great in helping us prepare for the A-10 schedule.”
The Patriots started the day with a 3-1 (26-24; 25-20; 15-25; 26-24) win behind an all-around team effort. Mason trailed for much of the first set, before battling back to take the lead at 24-23 and held on from there, taking the set behind the play of Morghan Martin, who had seven kills in the first set alone and 16 on the match.
The Patriots would hold the lead from start to finish in the second set, taking a 2-0 match lead. However, the Red Flash would bounce back in set three to prevent the sweep. The fourth set was the most contested with the lead changing hands three times in addition to six ties.
