FAIRFAX, Va. – On Saturday, October 11, the George Mason men's and women's soccer teams will host a FootGolf Tournament fundraiser to benefit both Mason soccer programs at General's Ridge Golf Course.
FootGolf is a hybrid sport of golf and soccer that follows the rules of golf very closely. Players will play 18 shortened holes on the regulation golf course. The players will begin at a designated tee and kick a #5 regulation soccer ball to a 21-inch diameter hole or cup, with the goal of making the hole or cup in the determined par score or better.
General's Ridge became D.C. Metro areas first certified FootGolf course by the American FootGolf League (AFGL), opening the course in spring of 2014.
Registration will begin promptly at 1 p.m. and the tournament will begin with a 3 p.m. shotgun start. Entrance fee to participate is $75 per person or $250 for a foursome and includes greens fees, drinks and an awards dinner.
