The George Mason men's soccer team looks to continue its undefeated start to the season in two road contests this weekend. The Patriots first battle Seton Hall on Friday, September 19 at 4 p.m. before heading to Brooklyn, NY for a noon kickoff with LIU-Brooklyn on Sunday, September 21.
The Patriots continued their strong start this season with victories over Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2-0) and Hartwick (1-0) last weekend. As a result, Mason has moved up to 18th in the latest NSCAA Division I poll along with improving its rankings in several others (Top Drawer Soccer - 12th, College Soccer News - 19th, SoccerAmerica - 20th). This is the program's first 5-0-0 start since the 1991 season.
Mason is currently fourth in the country with 0.20 goals-against average while senior Timi Mulgrew is third in the nation with 14 points and 1.20 goals per game with a total of six. Sophomore goalkeeper Steffen Kraus is currently ranked fifth in Division I with a 0.933 save percentage.
The Patriots and the Pirates have a 1-1-1 series record, last playing in 2013 where Mason won a 1-0 contest at home. Mason matched up with LIU-Brooklyn for the only time in 2012, winning 3-0 in its home and season opening game.
