FAIRFAX, Va. - After spending a week ranked in four national polls, the George Mason men's soccer team has increased its national rankings after victories over Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Hartwick last weekend.
“Although the rankings are reflective of our current form as a team we have a long way to go,” commented head coach Greg Andrulis. “The national rankings are a wonderful conversation piece at this time of the season, but as a collective group I believe we have our priorities straight. We are working hard to improve every day to become a better team, to play better soccer and to continue to build on our chemistry both on and off the field.”
The Patriots entered the NSCAA Division I rankings last week at number 22 and have risen to 18th nationally in the latest NSCAA poll announced Tuesday. Mason also made a jump in the Top Drawer Soccer Men's Top 25 from 18th to 12th along with moves to 19th and 20th, respectively, in the latest College Soccer News and SoccerAmerica polls. Mason begins a pair of road contests this weekend at Seton Hall on Friday, September 19.
“There is a long way to go in this season with many more matchups to be prepared for,” continued Andrulis. “Now our focus is squarely on a very good Seton Hall team.”
