MEN'S BASKETBALL FOREIGN TOUR DAY 2014
DAY TWO: VALENCIA
The George Mason men's basketball team will spend its first full day in Spain in Valencia, the third largest city in Spain with nearly 1,000,000 residents. After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, the Patriots departed the team hotel for a guided tour of historic Valencia where they enjoyed the architecture, history and culture of the city. On the tour, the team visited several places including Torres de Quart, Plaça de la Mare, Mercat Central and Plaza de la Virgen.
Tonight the team plays its first game while in Spain against Units pel Basquet Gandia.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
Mason defeated Units pel Basquet Gandia in the first game of the trip, 85-61. Patrick Holloway led the Patriots with 18 points, while newcomer Shevon Thompson posted a double-double behind 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Trey Porter recorded five blocks and five steals.
"I am very happy with the energy level of the team considering the travel challenges and time adjustments," commented head coach Paul Hewitt.
