FAIRFAX, Va. – Highlighted by eight regular season home dates, including four games against Atlantic 10 Conference opponents, and six games against teams that played in the 2013 NCAA Tournament, George Mason women's soccer head coach Diane Drake released the team's 2014 schedule.

“We have a very exciting schedule that begins with three challenging scrimmages to prepare us for opening day on August 22,” commented Drake. “We intentionally powered up our non-conference schedule to get the team ready for the Atlantic 10 slate, which features four home games against the top four teams from last season.”

Mason opens the season with a trio of exhibition contests that include two 2013 NCAA Tournament teams. Preseason play begins at 2013 NCAA participant Georgetown on August 12. The Patriots will then make the trip to Delaware for an exhibition on August 14. UMBC will visit Fairfax on August 17 to round out preseason play.

The regular season begins with a four-game homestand as the Patriots play host to Loyola for the first official game of the season on Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. William & Mary visits next with a matchup on Aug. 24, while East Carolina comes to George Mason Stadium on Aug. 29. American closes out the homestand on Aug. 31.

The Patriots will have a long break from Fairfax as the next seven games will be on the road. Mason opens the month of September competing in a tournament at Ohio State, Sept. 5-7. The Patriots will open the weekend facing NCAA tournament participant Indiana on Friday. The Hoosiers received their first NCAA berth since 2007 last season after finishing the season with a 15-7-1 record. Mason will face host Ohio State to close the tournament on Sunday. The Buckeyes come into the 2014 season off a 10-7-3 record last season and fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Following the tournament weekend, the Patriots will head to Appalachian State on Sept. 14 before visiting Liberty on Sept. 16. A visit to local rival George Washington on Sept. 27 for a non-conference tilt will cap the month for the Patriots.

A-10 league play begins for the Patriots with visits to UMass (October 3) and Rhode Island (Oct. 5). After a month on the road, Mason will return home on Oct. 10 to host Saint Louis and begin a three-game homestand. The Patriots will welcome Dayton on Oct. 12 in double-header action with the George Mason men's soccer team. Duquesne visits Fairfax on Oct. 17 before Mason travels to defending A-10 champion La Salle Oct. 24. The Patriots will play their final regular season road contest at Fordham on Oct. 26.

Mason will close out the regular season and host Senior Day on Oct. 31 against Saint Joseph's.

The A-10 Tournament is set for November 6-9, 2014 at the University of Dayton.
