FAIRFAX, Virginia – Paco Velez has been selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week.  The sophomore contributed a total of 8 blocks and 22 digs in a three-match weekend against NJIT, Rutgers-Newark, and Ohio State.

To go along with his impressive defensive stats, the opposite hitter also contributed 41 total kills on the offensive end.  Velez helped the Patriots win two EIVA matches to stay in fourth place in the EIVA standings.

This is Velez's first Defensive Player of the Week selection of the season.
